On the 29th of January, A.D. 1929, the Masonic Temple in Saint John was destroyed by fire and with it practically all of the records of this Preceptory. This serious loss was followed by the death of the Registrar, V.Em.Kt. R. Steeves, which placed the Preceptory in a still further predicament as regards records.
A roll of the Preceptory was secured in January 1930 from the Grand Chancellor and the present roll register was compiled from it. It may be observed that the same numbers are frequently used for two fraters (in the Roll Register) - the reason being that as this Preceptory is an amalgamation of two bodies the original numbers of the fraters in the original body was used. Your present Registrar makes no apologies for any errors in this Roll Register as it was compiled from the meagre information supplied by the Grand Chancellor (the same not appearing in any too complete or comprehensive form) plus such as could be gathered from local members, particularly Kt. W. C.. Fanjoy and M.Em.Kt. H. D.. Porter, P.S.G.M. to whom thanks are due.
